- DXT is NOT ENOUGH! Advanced texture compression for games
Very interesting presentation on compressing DXT textures. It uses a couple of things I haven't tried before, so I'm definitely going to check that out some time. (the presentation also mentions crunch, which is also very interesting) - Frames, Sparsity and Global Illumination: New Math for GamesCan you say math heavy? Oh my. Extremely interesting though, as far as I can see this could be what everybody will be using in the future instead of Spherical Harmonics. (Robin Green was kind enough to send me the presentation before it was put online, thanks!)
- Deferred Radiance Transfer Volumes
Presentation on the lighting solution in Far Cry 3. Some interesting ideas there. - Good, Bad, Greate design
- Rule Databases for Contectual Dialog and Game Logic or .. How To Make Writers Even More Awesome
A really awesome presentation on an event/dialog system used by Valve. Sounds extremely useful, it already gives me a ton of ideas.
This list is by no means complete, but these are the ones that, so far, have stood out for me.
(I still have to read so much!)
